Answers to the most common questions about HotLog.
How do I log a session?
Tap + on the Sessions screen, enter what you want to keep and save. HotLog remembers the values of your last session, so most of the time you only check them.
Can I log a session with Siri?
Yes. Say “Log a sauna session in HotLog”, or use HotLog’s actions in the Shortcuts app. This saves a session without opening the app; values you leave empty are taken from your most recent session of the same sauna type.
“New sauna session in HotLog” opens the app with a prefilled session instead, so you can check it before saving.
How do I connect HotLog to Apple Health?
HotLog asks at its first launch. To change what HotLog may read and write later, open Settings › Manage Health Permissions in the app, or Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › HotLog on your iPhone.
Each session then shows up as a workout in Apple Health, with its duration, the estimated calories and your heart rate, if you entered it.
How does HotLog calculate the calories?
HotLog estimates them from the duration of the session and your age, sex, height and weight in Apple Health. If it may not read those, it uses average values. You see the result at the bottom of a session’s details, and in the workout in Apple Health.
Can I add my own sauna types?
Yes. Open Settings › Custom Sauna Types in the app, or choose Add custom… when you pick the sauna type of a session. For each type you decide whether it tracks infusions.
Do my sessions sync between my devices?
Yes. If you are signed in to iCloud, HotLog keeps your sessions and your own sauna types in your iCloud account, so they are the same on every device with your Apple Account.
Settings › iCloud Status in the app shows the state of the sync. If something looks wrong, share the sync report from there with us. It contains no session details, notes or personal information.
Can I export or import my sessions?
Yes. In the app’s Settings, Export Sessions as CSV writes all your sessions to a file you can open in Numbers or Excel. Import Sessions from CSV reads them back, from Files or from the clipboard.
Can I take my iPhone into the sauna?
Please don’t. Heat and steam can damage your iPhone, your Apple Watch and any other electronic device. Leave them outside and log your session afterwards.
Is my data safe?
Yes. HotLog collects no data and contains no analytics or ads. Your sessions stay on your iPhone, in Apple Health and in your own iCloud account. The privacy policy has the details.
