What It Allows You To Do
The HotLog app is simple and allows you to easily keep track of your sessions in the sauna, steam bath, hammam, infrared sauna, or any other hot room like your office on hot summer days.
For each session, you can log:
- Sauna Type (Sauna, Steam, Infrared, Other)
- Start Date & Time
- Duration in Minutes
- Temperature in ºC or ºF
- Humidity in %
- Cold Shower / Bath (Yes / No)
- Infusion (for Sauna Types “Sauna” and “Other”)
- Notes
For each sauna type you will get:
- Total Number of Sessions
- Total Number of Cold Showers / Baths
- Total Number of Infusions
- Average Duration per Session
- Average Temperature per Session
- Average Humidity per Session
- Average Sessions per Week
- Average Sessions per Month
At the 1st app launch (or via iOS Settings) you can connect HotLog to Apple Health.
By doing so you’ll see your sessions as workouts in Apple Health with the duration you entered within HotLog.
Since there is not enough research available right now, we can not log the calories that you burnt by sweating. But good news: we are working on it.
The Conversation That Inspired Us
This is the podcast of Dr. Rhonda Patrick interviewing Dr. Jari Laukkanen. Dr. Laukkanen has been conducting long-term trials looking at the health effects of sauna use in a population of over 2,000 middle-aged men in Finland.
The results? Massive reductions in mortality and memory disease in a dose-response fashion at 20-year follow-up.

Why You Should Hit The Sauna

Our study shows that men using the sauna 2-3 x / week had a 27 % lower cardiovascular mortality than those using it only once. Those using the sauna 4-7 x / week had a 50 % lower cardiovascular mortality.

Sauna is great to start up with because of the dilation of veins and capillaries. First get into the heat of the sauna and then into the cold. If you do it on a regular basis, you will get more energy, you’ll feel better.
